Dr. Jessica Daigle

A board-certified pediatrician, NICU and pediatric hospitalist, and founder of Mom & Me MD.

I’m a mom of 2 kids, both born premature, with my first preemie being admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

As a board-certified pediatrician and hospitalist, I’ve taken care of moms and babies in all scenarios:

  • New moms and their new babies

  • Experienced moms and their new babies

  • Moms and their high risk newborns (term and preterm admitted to the NICU)

  • Families with babies and older children

So, I know personally and professionally the challenges that come with being a new mom AND having a preterm infant who was admitted to the NICU, and needing help transitioning home.

For years, I’ve helped moms manage the overwhelm, anxiety, and changes that come with bringing home a new baby, whether it is the first or third baby.

Mom & Me MD is designed to ease that transition at home after birth through personalized support and medical care to help mothers, their babies, and families not only survive, but THRIVE during the fourth trimester and beyond.

If you want to experience quality care and trusted support on issues that matter to YOU from someone with whom you can relate, who is knowledgeable, thoughtful, caring and thorough, then you’ve come to the right place!

Because at Mom & Me MD, you and your baby come first.

My Story

I’ve always had a desire to take care of babies and their families after reading “The Long Dying of Baby Andrew,” a true story of a family with a premature infant.

During my senior year of my pediatrics residency, I miscarried my first baby at 20 weeks.

This experience reinforced the importance of excellent bedside manners and meeting families where they are, the importance of helping moms during difficult times and validating their experiences.

My second child was born at 31 weeks and I had to be on bedrest in the hospital for 9 weeks before he was born! He stayed in the NICU for ~ 5 weeks.

I struggled with having a premature infant because I felt guilty and worried about leaving him at home to go to work because he had feeding problems after hospital discharge. I also experienced childcare struggles and getting help for me - ALL of it. With my 3rd child, I had more help at home, but I still had to deal with feeding issues and jaundice in my daughter.

As a pediatrician, I was expected to simply thrive during all these challenges, but the reality is I still had challenges like the next mom, regardless of my social status.

This prompted my passion to share my experiences with moms in the hospital as their babies were born, encouraging them to look after themselves too and realize that “motherhood is on the job training.”

You simply learn as you go, but education and support - both emotionally and practically - are paramount to a mom’s success and that of her family.

I chose to work in a hospital after training (compared to a pediatric clinic) because it allowed me the opportunity to spend time with families, educating them about their care, advising them on concerns they have and reassuring them.

Traditional pediatric clinics only allow short 15 minute appointments, not enough time to address the needs and concerns of a mother and her new baby. Parents need time spent with them to adequately address the concerns and questions they have and to provide the care they deserve.

Mom & Me MD was started because I asked myself, “How can I provide the same care and time as I do in the hospital for familiesAFTER they leave the hospital?” Moms need REAL-time support to help her and her baby on their postpartum/postnatal journey and that is what you will get with Mom & Me MD
